It's been announced on FOBL by Eric that he is to leave Big L at the end of the year.

So sad and I will miss him very much. I can't even imagine BIGL without Eric.

It is indeed sad. I've known for some time and fully understand why he's come to his decision. Eric has done so much for Big L and had to put up with a lot, but it wasn't an easy decision to leave.

However, life goes on and make no mistake, Big L goes on. Eric leaves the station much stronger for his involvement. We wish him every success with his new venture.

on week-ends you can click the "Listen Live" icons (they are shown only on week-ends) : http://www.kbcradio.eu/ or try your SW receiver on 6095 khz (49 m-band). - it should work at your place in the early mornings ;-) - you will meet a few deejays from the past

Listening via Shortwave in the States has GOT to be better than listening live via tinternet!

yes - but there are some religious station in the 49 m-band from Latin America which are pretty strong and which might interfere and also the Americans are not used to SW ( dxlers excepted of course) - they only listen to AM and FM. - They even don't know Longwave - there is not a single station receivable on LW at the East coast
But at least its worth a try if M-A can get hold of a SW radio. Eric would be delighted to receive a reception report from her

Oh, come on! That's technical! As I always say, "Lord save us from Wimmin and things technical"!! ESPECIALLY American Wimmin and technical things!!

Okay - lets see if our American ladies can catch KBC at weekends on 6095 khz SW in the 49 m-band - we should grant them the help of males though to help them to find the SW switch button on their radio. - Its the result that counts..

Hmm! Be interesting to see if they can do this!!

#14 RE: Eric to leave Big L by MaryAnn 14.12.2011 13:35

I don't have a band radio. I still have not bought one yet, but I really want one.

#15 RE: Eric to leave Big L by Pat 14.12.2011 16:27

I'll have you know that I have been a SW listener for many years. Although, I have to admit I have not listened for a few years now. I'll have to get out the radio and dust it off and see what the excitement is all about.

SW listening is an adventure :-) - make sure that you don't have too many electro-smog sources nearby
http://www.kbcradio.eu/ ( I think - 5 hours for you) - only at weekends transmitter is on
- only 6095 khz 49m-band SW will work for you as older radios don't have DRM

Thats true for us blokes - but women will have difficulties in finding the correct frequency by manual dialing - they need those modern digital tuners where you give in the frequency by pressing the buttons

Even that can be confusing for the poor Dears sometimes!!

lets see if Pat can do it this weekend - lets give her a chance - eric will love her if she's going to be successful and will send him a reception report - maybe this is going to be some motivation for her
